Pop Tab Pandemonium
Collecting pop tabs is a great way to teach kids about philanthropy and the importance of recycling, and raise funds to help children and their families at the same time. Our Chapters raises over $1000 from donated pop tab collections each year.
Why?
Ronald McDonald Houses collect pop tabs instead of entire aluminum cans because the tabs are pure high-quality aluminum, unlike cans, which consist of aluminum and other alloys. More importantly, tabs are also easier to store than whole cans.
Where?
Our local Ronald McDonald House participates in the collection program, you may have seen our reusable pop tab collection bags which have been distributed to schools, community and civic groups and other organizations around town. Collect your pop tabs to drop off at the Ronald McDonald House of El Paso, and if don't have one pick-up a collection bag.
How much?
After the tabs are collected, we bring the collection to local recycling centers, where they are weighed to determine their value (values can vary significantly). The recycling center then gives us a check for the total value.
Ronald McDonald House of El Paso uses revenue from pop tab collection efforts for general operating expenses.
